PNDA - March Competitions
27 March 2026 to 29 March 2026
The PNDA March Competition features both classical and modern dance genres, including ballet, barefoot, national character, demi character, neoclassical, lyrical contemporary, jazz, hiphop and musical theatre. Competitors are both local and from around the north Island, reaching to the South.
The class range for competitors is 6yrs & under – 16yrs & over.
This competition offers restricted solo classes for less experienced dancers. Alongside the Pacanz National Young Performer Nomination classes. This year NYPA ballet nominations are held alongside troupe nominations. Competitors for the NYPA solo nomination class must be aged 16-21. Troupe nomination class is open to competitors under 21yrs and can cover any genre except for tap. The successful nominees in this preliminary round represent the Palmerston North Dance Association at the NYPA Awards held in October at the Regent on Broadway in Palmerston North.
