Capital E presents Hinepau Theatre is an important historical art form that expresses things that cannot be put into words. Audience members take unique meanings and inspiration from live shows that can open new thoughts and approaches to how they live life. This particular show uses Aotearoa’s talent to present a local mythological tale about staying true to yourself, respecting our environment, history, cultural traditions and understanding how the choices we make affect other people. This high-quality production immerses audiences into the world of theatre in a venue close to their home. It offers opportunities to discover a new way to express themselves and collaborate with others. Hinepau is hugely popular for this age group (Years 5-9). It fosters a love and respect for Aotearoa’s unique place in the world, and gives a message that the tamariki and mokopuna are the kaitiaki of the future. Based on the book of the same name by Gavin Bishop, published by Scholastic New Zealand Directed by Jamie McCaskill Devised by Rachel House, Jamie McCaskill, Erina Daniels, Stephen Tamarapa and Maria Walker
