to
19 May 2017

NOTE: Schools daytime show is not a ticketed event however it is ten dollar per head at the door. This performance has an approximate twenty-minute interval. After a stunning 2015 debut seen by 3,500 in Christchurch, the Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu Season of Tiki Taane Mahuta returns to tour 13 cities in Aotearoa in 2017. Combining theatre, spectacular aerials, contemporary dance, kapa haka, mau rakau and hip hop, Tiki Taane Mahuta is one of New Zealand\'s largest nationally-devised productions set to the award winning soundtracks of Tiki Taane. Created by Artistic Director Tanemahuta Gray, this tour sees Tiki Taane and Shapeshifter\'s Sam Trevethick perform live with the production for the first time. This production is transforming the music industry with how theatrical narrative can combine with Tiki\'s cannon of works to create a whole new genre of integrated live performance. Tiki Taane Mahuta depicts two generations of New Zealand families and the tragedy, hope and redemption which connect them. Expanding beyond the 1996 and 2013 time periods, the production explores the ancestral realm which oversees the onstage characters with large scale visual projections. Tiki Taane Mahuta has an experienced cast, crew and design team who have worked on WOW - World Of Wearable Art Awards and Maui - One Man Against The Gods.
